Ear infections, especially in children, are usually the order of the day this holiday season, due to increased humidity in the external auditory canal along with the exposure of germs found in the pool, says Andrés Obando, an otolaryngologist.

The specialist added that to avoid this, the ear should be kept as dry as possible, and for this, a swimming plug can be used, ideally supported by a swimming cap. When leaving the water it is recommended to dry with a towel.

Likewise, Obando recalls the importance of avoiding introducing applicator-type objects; as well as removing the earwax, since it is one of the only barriers that the external ear has to avoid infections.

    Vaginal infections

On the other hand, vaginal infections are also added to the list, since wearing a wet bathing suit for a long time can affect that area, emphasized gynecologist Michelle Wright.

Wright added that excess heat in the vaginal area also affects, for example, if the person spends a lot of time sitting on the sand or drives for many hours. The ideal is to maintain cleanliness, change your bathing suit frequently, wear cotton clothing and prevent it from remaining wet.
