With the summer solstice just passed it’s a great time to detox!  The temperature is warm and we tend to eat lighter foods, which make the detox process just a little easier.  While cleansing- whether through a change in diet, juice fast or breath it’s important to keep in mind that it’s not only what goes into our bodies that matter.  We should also look at how we get the toxins out, thus supporting the body’s ability to remove them as quickly and effectively by activating the four elimination systems;

  1. Urinary: kidneys and bladder.
  2. Gastrointestinal: liver, gallbladder, colon, and the whole GI tract.

  4. Respiratory: Lungs, throat, and sinuses.
  5. Skin and Dermal: sweat, sebaceous glands, and tears.

5 ways to detox the body:

Fruit is really one of our most nutritious ways to fill the body with vital energy, include raw vegetables and low-glycemic fruits (like berries) as much as possible. A low-glycemic diet means a low-inflammation diet, that will support your body and slow down the cellular aging process.

Choose any physical exercise that you like and allow yourself to sweat.  You activate all the organs of elimination by breaking a sweat with some form of exercise for 15 to 20 minutes every day.

From my experience, I drink more water than my daily intake of around 1.5L.  This allows your body to flush all the toxins wanting to come out.  I recommend drinking filtered, slightly alkaline water. It plays such a major role in our bodies— invest in good, clean, healing H2O and take a moment to bless your water with intention.

  1.  Seasonal Eating

During your cleanse, try to eat seasonally and locally to get the highest amount of minerals from your food, which activates enzymatic processes in the body.

Taking metabolic enzymes can facilitate with the breakdown of waste matter and help expel cellular waste. These enzymes help the body detox and cleanse by breaking down toxic substances so they can be excreted.
