How Health Law Has Affected Smokers

Healthcare law affects everything from marijuana to fast food and has a direct impact on our lives.  One thing that it has had an increased impact on in recent years is smoking.  Through a combination of awareness campaigns and altered packaging, many people have decreased their consumption of cigarettes, switched to vaping or quit altogether.

Hofstra Law and its health policy masters department created the infographic below.  As you can see, cigarette packets are now required by law to be covered by health warnings and images.  They are also not allowed to be on visible display in shops, which is preventing youngsters from inquiring about them.  The pack warnings alone have convinced up to 25% of people to stop smoking, and the visible pack display laws have decreased sales by 15%.  You can find out more statistics from the infographic below.
