This Monday began one of the largest natural spectacles in Guanacaste: the spawning of Kemp’s Ridley Turtles at the Ostional Wildlife Refuge. “Today the arrival of the month of January began and it could last about 4 days,” the Association of Local Guides of Ostional (Aglo) indicated through a Facebook post.
According to the association, the tours are being scheduled for 5:00 am and 6:00 am, depending on the influx of tourists, it will be valued if the schedule is extended, due to the restriction that currently exists on the beaches.
“It is optional and depending on the activity, the 7:00 am, if they continue going out during the day, they would be doing tours until 1:30 pm, due to sanitary orders the beach closes at 2:30 pm.”
If you are one of the people who are interested in going to observe this spectacle of nature, we inform you that as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the guidelines for turtle sighting and hiring guides changed in Ostional.
Some of the changes that are being applied from now on are the following:
- Only tourists who have a prior reservation will be served.
- Please bring your mask.
- Tourists will wait in their respective vehicles for their turn to enter the beach, this in order to avoid crowds at the service station.
