Landslides and Wash-outs Continue to cause Problems on Ruta 142 – La Fortuna & Nuevo Arenal – Still Closed

Continued rain and mudslides still causing problems as road workers struggle. The main Route 142 between La Fortuna and Nuevo Arenal is still closed.
The landslide last Thursday effected the area 14 kilometers south of the lake, making travel impossible, the heavy waters not only washed out the road but a main concrete bridge was swept away as well. Work continues

This is a primary road for tourists and travelers to Arenal Volcano and Guanacaste.

To reach the region travelers have to follow the Inter-America (Pan Am) highway to Puntarenas, then head north.
