Pure Life Development proudly presents “La Antigua del Valle” and “Las Brisas del Valle” – ECO-developments in Atenas, Costa Rica!

La Antigua del Valle and Las Brisas del Valle are two exciting new developments located in Atenas, Costa Rica, which is known for having “the best climate in the world,” according to National Geographic. These small boutique developments offer individually designed eco-homes with solar panels, recycled water systems, recycled materials, and eco-products where possible – all in an effort to help keep Costa Rica green. La Antigua consists of just over six acres and Las Brisas is just under nine acres, and both offer an abundance of wildlife with amazing views of San Jose and the Central Valley. La Antigua also offers some views of the Pacific Ocean. Every detail has been taken into account, from the design of the entrances and roads to the utilities and landscape. Costa Rica prides itself on being a country of peace and conservation. Every day Costa Rica becomes more and more eco friendly with eco vacations, eco resorts, and eco developments. Little by little we can all do our part to keep this Costa Rica paradise pristine.

    Location

Both communities are located in Estanquillos, Atenas, Costa Rica. La Antigua and Las Brisas are a short 12-minute drive from the center of Atenas, where everything you need is at your fingertips. San Jose is a 30-minute drive via the new San Jose -Caldera Highway, 45 minutes to the closest Pacific beaches, and 25 minutes to Juan Santamaria International Airport. In the 1990s, National Geographic listed Atenas, Costa Rica as having one of “the best climates in the world,” with temperatures that range from the mid 80’s during the day to the low 60’s at night, making for an “eternal spring.” In addition, in 2010, AARP, one of the largest associations of retired people in the world, listed Atenas in it’s top 10 places to retire. With all this acclaim over the years, it is no wonder that Atenas has become a retirement destination and that real estate is in high demand.

In addition to a great location, Atenas has everything you need all packed into a small village. Boasting a population of around 27,000, Atenas offers just over one square mile of land for each inhabitant. The downtown area offers:

    • Three banks (Banco Nacional, Banco de Costa Rica, and Banco Popular)
    • Four supermarkets (CoopeAtenas, Pali, MegaSuper and El Canario)
    • Convenient central market
    • Various bakeries (Musmani, Santa Clara)
    • Several pharmacies (including Farmacia Don Juan and Farmacia Central)
    • Churches (Catholic, Christian, Spanish and English)
    • Bars and Restaurants (La Trocha, La Trilla, Don Yayo’s, Guanacaste, Mirrador)
    • Clothing Stores
    • Electronics stores (Roes, Importadora Monge, Gollo, Casa Blanca)
    • Hardware and building supplies (Vargas, Miranda, Los Angeles)

The most important part of Atenas is it’s people. They will always greet you with a smile and lend a helping hand when needed. These are just some of the reasons why so many expats call Atenas, Costa Rica home!

    Community-La Antigua

As you enter the gate at La Antigua, you realize you are home. With it’s beautiful colonial entrance adorned with beautiful ironwork and natural stone walls, tropical plantings and cobble stone road, home awaits just beyond the corner. La Antigua del Valle consists of six uniquely designed homes with a twist on the traditional Spanish Colonial style. The community as a whole consists of just over 6 acres of land, with home sites ranging in size from just over 0.5 acre to 1.25 acres. Each and every lot offers amazing views – some towards San Jose, others towards the Pacific coast, and a privileged few have both views! La Antigua offers an abundance of nature and wildlife and over 10,000 trees and plants, including coffee, old growth mango and avocados, cedro, corteza amarillo, higueron, and robles, many of which are covered with wild orchids. Hundreds of banana plants cover the property as well. The nature in Costa Rica is one of the countries biggest draws and La Antigua del Valle is a nature lover’s paradise.

    Homes

Building in Costa Rica can be a daunting task, so let us remove the stress and fears. Each home has been carefully designed with every detail taken into consideration. Traditional Spanish Colonial designs and details, as well as eco-products, have been incorporated into each home, with all the modern conveniences at your fingertips. For example, The Ginger offers:

    • Traditional Colonial U shape
    • Interior courtyard
    • Swimming pool
    • Wrap around porch
    • Large open living areas (with brick barrel/or vaulted wood ceilings)
    • Fireplace
    • Large kitchen with beautiful wood cabinets, natural stone tops, dome ceiling, and prep island/bar
    • Three spacious bedroom suites with vaulted wood ceilings, niches and built-in seating throughout

    • Three large bedroom suites
    • Large wrap-around deck
    • Infinity pool

Each home features large picture windows and walls of sliding glass doors to take advantage of Atenas’ eternal spring like climate. In addition, fireplaces provide warmth and romance for those crisp nights. The details of each home have been carefully considered, and then reconsidered. Some of the construction details include:

    • Solar electrical systems
    • Recycled “banana plastic” roofs
    • Natural stone and River Rock
    • Sustainable Wood (Teak) and recycled wood products
    • Low flow toilets
    • Gas appliances
    • Use of native plants

Furthermore, home finishes and details may be customized to fit each buyer’s tastes and needs.

    Community-Las Brisas

Las Brisas has a completely different feel from that of La Antigua. Las Brisas is a modern tropical paradise with an elegant entryway that is set on just under nine acres with 8 lots ranging in size from 1/3 acre up to 1.25 acres. The views are towards San Jose and the Central Valley and all four volcanoes (Poas, Barva, Irazu, and Turrialba). Four of the lots are forest lots with great views, and will feature unique “tree house” homes surrounded by nature. A small stream divides the community in half, with large growth Higueron and Espavel trees, and the relaxing sound of water and birds chirping in the background.

    Homes

Like La Antigua, each home has been carefully designed with every detail taken into consideration. Architecturally, the homes are a modern-tropical style, with fine details and the use of eco-products throughout each home. The first home, La Tropical, features:

    • Fresh modern/tropical design
    • Open living areas with vaulted ceilings
    • Fireplace
    • Custom kitchen with wood cabinets and natural stone countertops
    • Interior gardens
    • Two large bedroom suites
    • Swimming pool
    • Lush tropical gardens
    • Amazing views of the Central Valley and San Jose
