Education Minister Sonia Marta Mora explained to the members of the Committee on Financial Affairs an extraordinary item for almost 70 billion colones, which will be used to improve the infrastructure of schools.
The hierarch said that this item is included in a special budget that the government sent to Congress and that deputies should approve, and it arises from a rearrangement of specific items of remuneration.
“This is necessary to hire 30 temporary positions and give technical support to the Department of Educational Infrastructure (DIE) to achieve the successful implementation of the projects,” he said.
He insisted that hiring will be the first step for 6 months and will cost 124 million colones.According to Mora, those resources will benefit 175 schools across the country, a large achievement.
The director of the DIE, Walter Muñoz, said that places are required to achieve control processes and technical support on projects.
Lawmakers asked the Minister for a list of all projects that will benefit the education system and for the timeline that each contribution will take place.
Mora added that the selection criteria to help these centers go through issues of vulnerability and poverty, but are also impacted by the student population benefited, the waiting period they have had, and the progress of the works.
