Costa Rican athlete Amalia Ortuño became the world champion in the Seated 2 category of Adaptive CrossFit this Sunday. Ortuño competed in the world championship held in Las Vegas, United States, where 260 athletes from 16 adaptive divisions participated.

The Costa Rican expressed her happiness and acknowledged how wonderful it feels to win a medal. “Seven years ago, I started this sport of Adaptive CrossFit determined to fulfill a dream: to compete again after an uncertain diagnosis of an illness that, to this day, has changed my life in more ways than I ever imagined,” said Ortuño.
This is the sixth time the Costa Rican has won the world championship. The athlete expressed her satisfaction at having paved the way for others to succeed in this discipline.
Other competitions
Ortuño’s arrival in Costa Rica is scheduled for September 15 at 7 p.m. And she will begin training for the World Para Athletics Championships in India the following day. This will be held between September 27 and October 5 of this year.
