Water Treatment Plant (Archive Photo)The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Costa Rica will have the support of South Korea to resolve, the lag in water treatment, announced the Ministry of Environment and Energy (Minae).
The announcement came as part of the Green Forum 2013 Korea – Costa Rica, which was celebrated yesterday in San Jose with the participation of Korean companies and organizations linked to the environment.
In the opening ceremony, the Costa Rican Minister of Health, Daisy Corrales and Deputy Minister of Environment of Korea, Jeong Yeon-man, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Solid Waste Management.
The Minister of Environment of Costa Rica, René Castro, said that in the next decade the Central American country must engage in problem solving and water treatment and solid waste management, and projected that these tasks require an investment of $800 million.
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Maria Guzman, explained that one of the first projects to be executed by the hand of South Korea is a “cooperation agreement to ensure solid waste energy recovery involving the municipalities of San José, by which will bring Korean technology for this important task. “
Guzman added, “This is a very important and we want Korea to move (forward) with its technology for both solids and waste water treatment.”
For his part, Castro emphasized that “both the public and private sectors of both countries are going to work hard so that like Korea, Costa Rica can solve their problems of sewage and solid waste in the coming years.”
The forum involved, as well as companies and cooperatives, experts from the Institute of Environmental Technology and Industry of Korea (Keiti) Korean Environmental Corporation (KECO), and the Agency for Cooperation of Korea Meteorological Industry (KMIPA). EFE
