The Colombian singer Shakira announced that, through the Barefoot Foundation, she will build a new school in Haiti. Thus, the famous artist joined the list of celebrities who have sympathized with the tragedy experienced by Haiti after the earthquake.
This project will be supported by Architecture for Humanity, an organization will be responsible for building the education center.
The initiative of the singer will also be supported by several NGOs, which provide for the new school education materials, food, drinking water and sanitation.
“There is an immediate need for humanitarian assistance in Haiti, but we must consider the challenges of long-term reconstruction,” Shakira said in a press conference.
She revealed that Barefoot School in Haiti will be inspired by the project in Colombia for her foundation, which benefits over 6,000 children with education and nutrition.
