Costa Rican musical talent is set to take center stage once again alongside one of urban music’s biggest icons. Following a standout performance earlier this year, the Orquesta Universal de Costa Rica has been officially selected to accompany Puerto Rican superstar Yandel for the second time on his “Yandel Sinfónico” tour.
Produced locally by Jogo, the event will take place this Sunday, August 30, at 8:00 p.m. at the Anfiteatro Imperial in Parque Viva.
A Return Earned Through Excellence
The decision to invite Orquesta Universal back wasn’t random. Following their initial collaboration on March 14 at the PICNIC Festival Centroamérica, Yandel’s international production team praised the Costa Rican ensemble’s precision, discipline, and energy. Yandel himself publicly commended the musicians on stage—a gesture orchestra members note is rare for his international tour stops.
“It didn’t surprise us, because they left super happy,” shared representatives of the orchestra. “Since Orquesta Universal was founded, we have strived for excellence in everything we do. That is why we’ve had the opportunity to accompany both international and national artists.“

While their festival performance required shortened tracks and remix formats due to tight set times, this full concert format gives Yandel the space to perform full-length songs. This change required the Costa Rican orchestra to rework the arrangements and execute a deeper preparation process.
