Newlywed Couple Wins Costa Rican Lottery With Their First Ticket Ever! Next Steps: Quit Job and Buy a House

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – A 27 year-old resident of La Carpio resigned from his job and announced his plan to buy two houses; one for his parents and one for himself and his new wife after winning the lottery yesterday for a total of 70 million colones.

The winner bought the lottery ticket while at the Corner Theatre  and decided to play their wedding day since they were just married on November 29.

They claim they haven’t been able to sleep and still can’t believe it happened “despite having the money in the bag.” The winner of two fractions of the Christmas lottery added that he had never tried the lottery before, making it an even bigger surprise.

According to the young couple, the seller had four pieces of 29 with 508 series, but he and his wife decided to buy only two and two of 68.

Now this neighbor of La Carpio says he wants to fulfill a promise he made to his mother to give her a home and for himself so that they can all stop renting. (Amelia Rueda)
