Guanacaste Airport (LIR), a member of the VINCI Airports network, alongside the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), officially announced a new nonstop route operated by Delta Airlines. This service will regularly connect John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York with the province of Guanacaste.
This strategic connection promises to significantly boost local economic development and increase tourist arrivals to the Chorotega region and surrounding areas, launching just in time for the peak travel season.
A Direct Bridge to the U.S. Northeast
The United States remains the primary source market for tourists visiting Costa Rica. The U.S. Northeast, in particular, represents a high-demand hub of travelers seeking the biodiversity, pristine beaches, and sustainable tourism model that the country is famous for.
With this new flight option, New York travelers will avoid layovers, enabling faster and more comfortable travel to the province’s top attractions and nearby destinations such as Liberia, La Fortuna, and Monteverde.
