Chancellor Enrique Castillo, issued a statement regarding the new Costa Rican ambassador to Nicaragua, Javier Sancho, saying he must go to Nicaragua as soon as possible.

On same day that Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega assumed the temporary presidency of the Central American Integration System (SICA), a Sandinista youth group was detected by Calero Island patrol, in an illegal incursion. The Hague Court ruled against presence of soldiers and civilians in the area, with the exception of Costa Rican environmental officials.

“We need a person to react from there and quickly to initiatives of the Nicaraguan government that affect the rights or Costa Rican sovereignty.” Said Castillo.

Another urgent issue happening in Nicaragua, apart from Calero, is the Interoceanic canal bill which President Daniel Ortega sent Tuesday to the National Assembly.
