San Jose [TCRN] – Very quickly after Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister, Enrique Castillo made an statement that a new ambassador to Nicaragua would be announced by mid August, President of the Republic, Laura Chinchilla, confirmed that the career diplomat Javier Sancho is being considered as new ambassador to Costa Rica in Nicaragua.
Chinchilla said that Sancho will be confirmed as the country’s representative in Managua after receiving word that Nicaragua will comply with interim measures brought by the World Court in The Hague regarding the border dispute between the two countries.
In October 2011, Nicaraguan troops invaded Calero Island, after commencing dredging operations in the river San Juan River.
The move will hopefully dampen the volatile Nicaragua Costa Rica tension.
