A strong earthquake was felt in most of central and western El Salvador and Guatemala at approximately 12:30 am.
According to the National Service of Territorial Studies (SNET), the quake was a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was located off the coast of Guatemala.

There was no significant damage reported.
