Difference Between Flavor Drops for Cannabis vs. E-juice for Vaping

If you’re a CBD lover who misses the smoking aspect of cannabis every now and then, this breakdown is for you.

Some cannabis enthusiasts prefer to simply flavor their weed and smoke it instead of vaping CBD e-liquids. For many non-millennial week lovers, there isn’t anything quite like rolling up a fatty and lighting up at the end of the day. And while e-liquid manufacturers have been trying to mimic its flavor, there really isn’t anything quite like the taste of lit cannabis. But is there any way to mix a little variety into the experience, like e-liquids do with their thousands of different flavors?

Most standard e-liquids get their taste from USP-grade (known commonly as food grade or “food-safe”) flavoring concentrates. They can be either natural flavors, artificial flavors or a blend of both. Higher-end CBD vape juices get their flavoring from terpenes, just like the cannabis products you currently see circulating the market. However, some terpenes are not cannabis-derived, which means they don’t always capture the full flavor or scent of your favorite nuggs and edibles. In either case, while you certainly get high, e-liquid flavor is unique due to its many standardized ingredients. The fact that CBD vape juices can’t currently deliver the exact taste of jolly green in a joint is a deal breaker for some people.

This is where flavor drops come in. There are flavor drops for tobacco and cannabis, and both are designed to add variety to your daily smoking experience. They are commonly used not only in cannabis consumption but in production by independent retailers as well. As with e-liquids, flavor drops are mainly composed of either natural or artificial flavors, and they are popularly used in a variety of ways. One example is accentuating the flavor of cannabis products with as little as a drop or two per nugget. Another example is the enhancement of weed wax, tincture, and other concentrates by adding flavor and aroma. However they are used, flavor drops definitely have a place in the market for those who prefer to smoke (or eat) their weed instead of vape CBD. Unlike e-liquids, there are no terpenes in flavor drops, which rules out the prospect of adding or reinforcing the medicinal qualities of cannabis products.

The times are definitely getting better for cannabis growers, advocates, and enthusiasts. As more and more smokers and ex-smokers transition to vaping in search of a safer alternative, it’s nice to see the smoker’s market not being left out of the flavor revolution brought about by e-cigs and vapes— if we exclude the bad guys like Juul. Whichever way you prefer to get high, there are now plenty of ways to enjoy a variety of flavors and medicinal effects every time you light up.
