Actress Pamela Anderson came out today in defense of the founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Paul Watson, who is in Germany awaiting possible extradition to Costa Rica for shark fin poaching.

The Costa Rican authorities demanding the extradition of Watson in 2006 for failure to appear in court charged with violation of maritime traffic in Guatemalan waters in a 2002 incident in which Costa Rican fishermen say they tried to sink his boat.

Anderson, who explained that she already has worked for three years protecting these animals and that she even got his father to abandon hunting, demanded an end to the possible extradition of Watson and noted that “the whole world is watching this process.”

The actress, recalled that, like Watson, she is from the Canadian province of British Columbia and has much in common with the environmentalist as she also defends the rights of animals.

Watson, arrested at Frankfurt airport on May 13 and released a week later on bail of 250,000 euros, described the warrant filed by Costa Rica as illegal.
