Starbucks to Establish Coffee Laboratory in Costa Rica

Reported in the newspaper El Pais of Spain, Starbucks announced it would buy 240 hectares (about 600 acres) of land near the Poas Volcano, to establish a laboratory to experiment with new varieties of coffee.

The U.S. company did not disclose more details about the purchase of the land but is expected to be completed in May, did confirm was that the new subsidiary is part of Starbucks Coffee Trading Company, which it buys coffee worldwide.
