Sea Shepherd is looking for volunteers in Costa Rica

The foundation for marine conservation, Sea Shepherd is looking for volunteers in Costa Rica to start a campaign to protect the seas. The recruiting process is carried out by the organization Preserve Planet.

Mabel Oporta, responsible for recruiting volunteers at Preserve Planet stated that they are making a list of all the people interested in participating in the campaign.

“We have between 65 and120 people. There are people who want to enter the volunteer program as a family, thus the number of people is very variable. We have no deadline for them to volunteer and meet the requirements, “said Oporta.

In order to be part of the volunteer program of Sea Shepherd, the organization requires people to be older than 10 and be interested in participating in the beach cleaning program. In addition, volunteers must fill out the forms which can be downloaded www.seasheperd.org or apply at the offices of Preserve Planet.

“The forms are in English, but we are trying to find a way for people who do not know the language to language to have them in Spanish. We check that all forms are complete” said Oporta.

After reviewing the requirements, the document is sent to Headquarters where it is approved by the general organizers. There is no limit to the number of volunteers that can participate in the campaign. First they work at national level, and then there will be sub-divisions according to each region in the country.

In addition, the organization intends to give talks in schools to raise awareness on the protection marine flora and fauna, as well as provide training and meeting in order to begin the beach cleaning campaign.
