The ICT and several companies from the Costa Rica tourism sector are ready to promote the best of the country’s tourism industry during the new season of international fairs.
Costa Rica will participate in major tourism fairs worldwide, promoting itself in countries like USA, Canada, Spain, Germany, France, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and emerging markets such as Belgium, Russia and Sweden.
The fairs, which are designed for tourism professionals and the general public, will cover topics such as incentives and conferences, airlines, cruises, and adventure tourism.
Tourism Minister, Allan Flores, stated that the exposure achieved at international fairs is an excellent way to promote Costa Rica as a tourist destination in key tourism markets and attract the interest of new wholesalers, airlines, and travel agents.
“This year our country is involved in nearly 30 international tourism fairs. 89 companies registered during this season, which will attend the different events depending on their product and target market, “said Flores.
One of the surprises for this season is that, for the first time, one of the fairs will be held in Abu Dhabi, which represents a great opportunity to position Costa Rica in new markets.
Flores noted that through these fairs Costa Rica can promote its sustainable tourism development model, highlighting the hotels, tour operators and rent a car companies that have the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST), a standard recognized by World Tourism Organization as a pioneering program that has succeeded in changing the form of tourism.
During last season, Costa Rica won several awards at the three most important fairs in Europe. The country won the award for best stand at the World Travel Market in London in November 2011, the 32nd edition of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, Spain FITUR, and the ITB in Berlin, which is considered the biggest tourism fair in the world.
