The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Drug Control Police of Costa Rica (PCD) arrested a Guatemalan man who was hiding 42 kilos of cocaine in a truck while crossing the border of Nicaragua, said official sources.
The Costa Rican Security Ministry said in a statement that the capture took place on Saturday at the Peñas Blancas border with Nicaragua during a routine check.
The drugs were hidden in the sides of the cab of the truck, which was carrying a container of stainless steel tables, hoses and other industrial products.
The suspect in this case is the driver of the vehicle, a Guatemalan named Ponciano, age 41, who faces charges of international drug trafficking, a crime in Costa Rica is punishable by a maximum of 20 years in prison.
