Costa Rica is world renowned for its luxurious tropical surroundings and has been a favorite destination for weddings and honeymooners for over a decade. Attracting so many couples and newlyweds, many exclusive resorts in Costa Rica have tailored and customized wedding and honeymoon packages.

According to the 2012 Wedding Destination Study conducted by The Knot, Costa Rica is the best place in Latin America to say “I do,” The Knot is a very well-recognized wedding website among grooms and brides in the United States.

The study revealed that in Latin America one out of every four wedding destinations takes place in Costa Rica. This represents 36% of the 2,757 qualified respondents polled by wedding website TheKnot.com.

The second spot went to Nicaragua with 13% of the vote. Belize and Brazil both tied in third place with 11%, while Panama received 6%. Colombia and Guatemala both received 4%.
“Costa Rica’s exotic locales, romantic atmosphere and favorable climate are only a few of the reasons why more and more couple’s are finding themselves saying ‘I Do’ in Costa Rica. What truly distinguishes Costa Rica from other wedding destinations is its unique blend of natural atmospheres with premium luxury services, which allows couples to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying high-quality amenities,” commented Ireth Rodriguez, deputy manager and marketing director for the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism.

“We are excited to be recognized by The Knot and we hope to see more couples celebrate their special day in Costa Rica,” she added.

The Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT) also indicates that, in recent years, Costa Rica has become an attractive wedding destination for couples who genuinely care about the protection of the environment.

Couples can rest assured that Costa Rica’s diverse offerings are considered sustainable and “green,” thanks to the country’s highly successful Certificate for Sustainable Tourism program.

Through this program, couples marrying in Costa Rica can consult the government’s rating system to verify that the hotels, tour companies, car rental companies and restaurants they choose operate sustainably. Costa Rica’s commitment to environmental protection makes it the perfect destination for an eco-chic wedding, reports the ICT.

Although ecological weddings are a recent trend, Costa Rica has been an extremely popular wedding destination for years. The country’s natural beauty offers the ideal backdrop for a relaxing and romantic event, while the breadth of outdoor adventure gives new couples and their guests the perfect opportunity to share a thrilling adrenaline rush.

The Knot also promotes Costa Rica as one of the best places in Latin America to have an unforgettable honeymoon. Adventure, wildlife and hospitality are among some of the reasons that make Costa Rica appealing to newlyweds, according to the website. Costa Rica Weddings

“Even if you and your newly wedded have totally opposite honeymoon styles, Costa Rica’s natural beauty and variety make it a very appealing option. Costa Rica is also less commercialized than many other honeymoon locales. Of course, there is a Four Seasons, but Costa Rica ecotourism is very popular, making less traditional but equally luxurious eco-lodges and rainforest bungalows a desirable (and romantic) alternative. Set amid the country’s lush tropical forests, these accommodations offer travelers the opportunity to truly experience the beauty of their surroundings” states The Knot.

Manuel Antonio and Peninsula de Osa are among the places The Knot recommends couples visit to live a unique honeymoon experience.
