The Fourth International Congress of Medical Tourism in Playa Herradura began April 25 to promote Costa Rica and Latin America as destinations for leading health care and wellness needs.
Representatives from 15 countries and 250 companies are in attendance from the medical and tourism sectors offering services to buyers from the U.S. and Canada in the Medical Travel International Business Summit 2013.
In attendance at the opening ceremony on April 25th in the Los Sueños Marriott Hotel Herradura, was the Minister of Health, Dr. Daisy Corrales, General Manager ai Costa Rican Tourism Institute, Wilson Orozco, President of the Chamber of Commerce Central Pacific Philip Share and President of AVERAGE, Dr. Jorge Cortes.
“Costa Rica has established itself as the reference country today in medical tourism. Through the efforts of AVG and support ICT meet key industry leaders throughout Latin America and attract major companies buying health care“ said Dr. Jorge Cortés, president of AVG.
The conference will offer lectures on opportunities for Medical Tourism in the European Market for Addiction Rehabilitation opportunities, development of niche areas such as transplantation, regenerative therapies in orthopedics, jaw implants and wellness programs.
Allan Flores, Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica said: “This conference is an ideal showcase to expose the high professionalism of our specialists in the area of health, the support of internationally accredited medical facilities, competitive rates of procedures, our geographical position, political and economic stability of our country, climate and natural attributes”
The Congress is organized by the Council for the International Promotion of Costa Rica Medicine-AVERAGE-and the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism ICT-supported by the Chamber of Commerce Central Pacific and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
