San Jose, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) has so far registered 3 415 foreigners who met the requirements to be considered Costa Rican citizens, including 70 922 babies born in 2011.
According to TSE, 1 353 Nicaraguans, 795 Colombians, 179 Cubans, 145 Chineses and 137 Americans requested that status and achieved it.
TSE Registration Chef, Luis Bolaños, explained that the naturalization process can last from 6 to 8 months, until the file is complete.
There are many ways to achieve citizenship, but the most common is marriage with Costa Ricans, according to Bolaños, quoted by newspaper Extra.
