The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Costa Rica is experiencing record hotel occupancy, with beach hotels reaching 95 percent on average for the last week of the year, and mountain hotels attaining 87 percent of their booking capacity.
The destinations with the most reservations are mainly concentrated in the North Central Pacific and to a lesser extent in the South and the Caribbean. On the flip side, San José is the area of the country with the lowest number of vacationers this year.
Gustavo Araya, president of the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels, says that the figures are very positive, and they expect that in the coming days it will reach 100 percent.
He further explained that the previous year occupancy was around 85 percent, so this year the results are better.
“We hope that the increase will allow us to recover from the low seasons we’ve had in recent years, which have been very tough,” he said. (Amelia Rueda)
