San Jose, Costa Rica – The National Roads Authority (CONAVI), finally launched the repair work in the cavern on the concrete on the freeway General Cañas, the main route for San Jose – Alajuela. The work is to be complete in less than 2 months.

The Conservation Manager of Roads and Bridges CONAVI, Cristian Vargas, said the work of drilling for anchors for cement injection has started and will stabilize the slope beneath the highway.

The work has been delayed while engineers decided on the best repair strategy. The government of Costa Rica has launched an investigation looking for negligence, but that that is not expected to be completed anytime soon.
