    Chavez Cautions His Military On Oppositions On Destabilization Plans

    Venezuela President Hugo Chavez is accusing opposition presidential hopeful Henrique Capriles of trying to provoke violence by campaigning in areas that supports Chavez. The elections are to be held Oct. 7, 2012.

    Speaking to soldiers during a ceremony to promote military office Chavez warned that everyone should be on alert and the opposition is try to spread violence to create political upheaval in the country, calling on his military to “neutralize the destabilization plans.”

    Generally the campaigning leading up to the Oct. 7 presidential vote has not been violent, but observers warn rising tensions could boil over.
    Capriles is seeking support from working-class and poor Venezuelans.

    Chavez is still recovering from cancer treatments and so has just begun his campaign efforts. In the past 13 months, Hugo Chavez has undergone two surgeries that removed tumors from his pelvic region.
