47-year-old Poison singer and reality star, Bret Michaels, continues to fight for his life at the Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. With an incredible will to live and daughters Raine (9) and Jorja (4) by his side, doctors are confident that Michaels will make a full recovery. Regardless, this is still a life-threatening situation that has to be heavily monitored.
Michaels was taken to the emergency room due to an unbearably painful headache. Doctors discovered he had a type of brain hemorrhage that has a nearly fifty percent chance of death. The exact cause of the hemorrhage is hard to determine, but the fact that Michaels has been a victim of type 1 diabetes since the tender age of 6 does put him at risk. Fortunately, due to immediate medical attention and Michaels maintaining consciousness his prognosis is good.
Rock n’ Rollers sometimes seem unbreakable. Closely prior to his hemorrhage, Bret had part of his appendix removed and took this incident as a wake up call to make his health more a priority. Before all the health scares, he partied through two seasons of his reality romance show Rock of Love and recently did a season of Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice. The live finale of Celebrity Apprentice is scheduled to air May 23 and there is a possibility Michaels may be present for the taping.
There are still a lot of unanswered questions about the status of Bret Michaels’ health. It has been reported that early next week, his doctors are having a press conference to update everyone on how he is doing and what exactly happened. The good news is that Bret’s summer tours have been put back on schedule including the one with rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd. These are all good signs that Michaels will be fine and will be around to raise his two, very young beautiful daughters.
