American Gored During Zapote Festivities Making Full Recovery

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Derek Pepther, the American who was seriously injured after a bull gored him during the Zapote festivities, has successfully recovered in the Calderon Guardia Hospital. The American received several blows to his abdomen and neck, after a spectacular fall on the run last Saturday night.

The 27-year-old remains hospitalized under observation in a room on the second floor of the Calderón Guardia. According to information provided by the medical center, on Tuesday Dec. 31 he was visited by his wife and one of his associates.

“He’s stable, in observation, and his wife and a friend just came yesterday. He’s in good shape,” officials said at the medical center.

The American has two years of being in Costa Rica as a missionary, using his chemical engineering knowledge to teach science to young people in the country.
