Costa Ricans Will See a Hike in Fuel and Electricity Rates in JanuaryThe Costa Rica News (TCRN) – A rise in the price of fuel and electricity tariff adjustment will hit the pockets of Costa Ricans during the first month of the new year.

According to spokeswoman Carolina Mora, The Regulatory Authority for Public Services (Aresep) will hold a public hearing-the first half of January – to announce an increase of up to ¢21 on super gasoline, ¢17 on gasoline plus and ¢20 on diesel.

Mora said the rate adjustment in electricity bill corresponds to 5% of the rates for December, due to the entry of the dry season as electricity generators should use thermal energy to generate power.

With regard to the public service of water supply, tariffs will not present an increase within the next six months Mora added.
