Archive PhotoA Colombian, Jamaican, Nicaraguan and Costa were arrested over the weekend manning a speedboat in the Caribbean Sea carrying 909 kilos of marijuana, reported the Ministry of Security of Costa Rica.
The arrest was made by the National Guard Costa Rica, in coordination with a British frigate and a team of United States Coast Guard, an official statement said.
The 32 foot long speedboat had three engines and no registration number flying a Costa Rican flag and was manned by six people, who dumped the drugs at sea while being pursued by the Americans.
Those arrested were identified as a Colombian named Henau, 56, a Costa Rican named Rocha, 44, and Jamaican named Hall, 44.
An additional three surnames were released as well, Nicaraguan Dicson (33 years), Henry (31 years) and Zamora (45 years).
According to the Costa Rican authorities, none of the detainees has a criminal record.
Inside the boat also found six large fuel containers, and909 kilos of marijuana were in bags with Jamaican logos.
The suspects face charges of drug trafficking, a crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison by Costa Rican law. EFE
