Volaris El Salvador, the Salvadoran ultra-low-cost airline operating in Central America, Mexico, and the United States, obtained the renewal of its IOSA(IATA Operational Safety Audit) registration, following an audit of the airline last April by the International Air Transport Association (IATA),which will be valid until November 10,2027.
The requirements covered by the audit refer to the different operational safety and quality management systems in airlines, such as: organization, administration, and control at the corporate level; aircraft operation; flight dispatch and control; operations and maintenance engineering; civil aviation safety; flight attendant, ground, and cargo operations; and, especially, all activities related to quality and operational safety.
“We are very proud to have successfully completed the renewal of the IOSA Registry, which includes strict operational and safety requirements related to airline operations. The renewal of this registry reaffirms Volaris’ commitment to safety and best practices in all its activities and operations. The registration would not have been possible without the work and dedication of all Volaris ambassadors, the support teams at each airport where we operate, and the technical rigor of the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) of El Salvador.” Ronny Rodríguez, General Manager of Volaris El Salvador, highlighted.
This is the first renewal of its IOSA registration that Volaris El Salvador has successfully completed, positioning it within a select group of airlines that meet the highest international standards in terms of quality and operational and aviation safety.
IOSA standards and recommended practices are developed by specialists from IATA, as well as other international organizations and airlines, and are continuously updated. Likewise, IOSA adopts the operational safety requirements described in the ICAO annexes.
This new assessment of Volaris El Salvador was carried out under the new IOSA RBI scheme, which is an IATA approach to keeping up with today’s dynamic environment, focusing on relevant safety risks while maintaining an operational safety baseline. This IOSA program increases audit effectiveness and contributes to the industry’s overall goal of reducing accident rates.
IOSA is a global industry standard for conducting aviation safety audits. For more than two decades, IOSA has become the benchmark within the airline industry for operational safety audits, contributing to improved safety performance and providing significant benefits to participating airlines. IATA continuously develops IOSA standards and recommendations (ISARPs) in cooperation with its industry partners, civil aviation authorities, and ICAO.
In just over four years since it began operations on September 15, 2021, Volaris El Salvador has ten direct routes, six of them to the United States, has carried nearly 1.9 million passengers, and has performed more than 16,000 operations to and from El Salvador International Airport, San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez, in San Salvador.
