Uber users will now be able to us request a larger vehicle for groups of 7-14 people.
Starting today, UberVANs will be available for hire through the Uber app on your smartphone. The new line comes just in time for Costa Rica’s annual Palmares Festival.
According to Humberto Pacheco, CEO of Uber in Costa Rica:

All UberVans will be in “good condition,” model 2006 or later. Once assigned, users will be able to see their driver’s name, rating and vehicle make.
Rates
The fares for an UberVAN will begin at ₡1000, with ₡550 per kilometer, ₡100 per minute and a ₡2000 minimum. In comparison, regular vehicles — listed as uberX — begin at ₡500, ₡300 per kilometer, ₡50 per minute and a ₡1000 minimum. As always with Uber, the bill can be easily divided between riders by clicking the “Split Fare” button at the bottom of the screen.
In addition to flexible fares, Uber also offers flat rate deals from the Central Valley to many frequent destinations throughout Costa Rica.
