The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – More than five tons of recycling waste have been collected during the first five days of the Palmares fiestas.
The waste is collected by Coca Cola through their Mission Planet initiative and distributed between several recycling plants.
From January 15 to January 19, the organization collected nearly three tons of aluminum, a ton of cardboard, a ton of plastic and another 500 kilograms of glass.
“Our employees walk around the fairgrounds collecting waste. In addition, there is a fixed point where people can deposit recyclables, which is located behind the concert area,” reported Harry Vargas, the head of the recycling unit for Coca Cola.
The collectors are properly identified by a gray shirt with a Palmares Civic Association badge.
The Mission Planet campaign in Palmares has been in place for eight years. Last year, 12.5 tons of waste were collected. (Amelia Rueda)
