    U.S. News Ranks Costa Rica Most Comfortable for Retirement

    Costa Rica outranked the likes of Sweden, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand.

    Despite the overwhelming popularity of European countries that made it on the list, Costa Rica came out victorious as the world’s most comfortable destination for retirement. By comparison, Canada was ranked third; the United Kingdom, twenty-third; and the United States, twenty-sixth.

    According to U.S. News:

    Of course, the country’s attractive public and private healthcare systems, beautiful environment and overall pura vida lifestyle are also major reasons to consider Costa Rica for retirement.

    Methodology

    The retirement ranking comes as a subdirectory of the U.S. News Best Country List, which analyzed a total of of 65 attributes, through surveys and research. Some of said attributes include: adventure, citizenship, cultural influence, entrepreneurship, heritage, power and quality of life.

    Furthermore, only countries which had previously been ranked on either some of the United Nation’s or the World Bank’s top lists were considered.
