The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The lives of 64 families living in extreme poverty have now been changed thanks to their new homes located in the Mackenzie housing project in the town of San Buenaventura, in Colorado Abangares, Guanacaste, where ¢800 million was spent from the Housing Fund Grant.

The families, mostly with women as the heads of the households, officially received their new homes this week.

In Mackenzie, homes are prefabricated and have a room large living-dining-kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom, external laundry area, hallway and access to the front door.

In addition, for families of people with permanent disabilities or the elderly, numerous changes were made to the house such as installation of grab bars and handrails in the bathroom, ramp access and ceramic floors or extensions to the houses in order to facilitate the living conditions and quality of life of these people.

The development has sidewalks, handicap ramps, hydrants, and playgrounds. The Housing Mortgage Bank in Canton donated to the housing problem with an investment of ¢2,500 million.
