Prices of goods and services increased 1.02% during the month of February, in relation to the level of prices in January, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC).
The cumulative variation of the two first two months of the year was 2.34% higher than during the same period of 2012 when it reached 0.46%.
In February, the groups showed greater variation compared to the variation of the overall index were food and beverages, transportation and education. In the case of transport is the increase of 4.85% in the price of gasoline.
Annual inflation measured by the CPI closed at 6.52%, thereby exceeding the target set by the Central Bank, ie it is located in a range between 4% and 6%.(See picture).
The consumption basket of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), consists of 292 goods and services, of which 59% increased, 33% showed a decrease and the remaining 8% remained unchanged.
