    Police Rescue a Raccoon on Leash in Puntarenas

    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – A raccoon being walked on a leash in the middle of Puntarenas was seized this morning by security officers.

    Olman Gomez, head of Puntarenas police, they were on the Paseo de los Turistas yesterday when they observed with the animal on a girl’s shoulder.

    The officers approached the girl and her mother and explained that raccoons are wildlife and should not be treated as pets, plus they are protected by the Law of Conservation of Wildlife.

    After talking with both of them the raccoon was given to Ministry of Environment and Energy (Minae) and sent to a rescue center.
