The Costa Rica News (TCRN)- Ocean Mall is one of the 35 shopping centers that are being built in Costa Rica. If all goes well, inhabitants of Puntarenas will be able to visit Ocean Mall in 2015.

The mall will have 22,000 square meters (sqm) of construction within an area of 6 hectares, located one block west of the intersection between Route 23 and 17 (in Esparza). It will be similar in size to Outlet Mall in San Pedro, Montes de Oca.

Puntarenas Ocean Mall S.A. was created by three partner families, whose initial investment is of $ 20 million.

The shopping mall will have 136 business premises, 6 cinemas, a supermarket of 2,000 m², and a university of 3,000 m².

According to Ramos, vice-president of the company, “A good business is started to solve a need, and there is no doubt that the province of Puntarenas needs a commercial push”.

Ocean Mall will start its construction early next year. The project joins a list of other major developments in the country, led in size by City Mall in Alajuela, of 185,000 m² and 380 business premises,  which will start next September and is expected to operate in the first half of 2015.

The City Place project located in Santa Ana also announced the start of its construction in November (13,899 m² and 1,800 parking lots) and will opened in 18 months. In addition, the mall Zona Centro in Desamparados (of $16 million and 16,000 m² ) will open next March.

Meanwhile, the rest of the commercial real estate industry is still in clear dynamism. EF
