A Belgian airline plans to establish a direct flight between Brussels and San Jose, said Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, to President Laura Chinchilla during a bilateral meeting in the city.
The company is Jet Air, which has already made trips to the airport in Liberia. The flights would be once a week and make a stopover in the Dominican Republic, reported the Costa Rican ambassador in Brussels, Roberto Echandi, who was present at the meeting.
The meeting with Verhofstadt was the first of three made today in the midst of the general meetings of the Sixth EU-Latin America. Chinchilla then met with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout, who offered cooperation to develop aerospace technologies, said her Costa Rican counterpart, Rene Castro.
In addition there was a meeting with officials from Denmark, focusing on environmental issues, such as the possible help of this small Nordic country to finance the maintenance of forests in Costa Rica.
