The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – After the Citizen Action Party (PAC) Convention last Sunday in which the political analyst Luis Guillermo Solis was chosen as provisional candidate, it seems likely that various political parties might join in a coalition as the 2014 elections approach.
According to data provided by PAC, the results revealed that 8,260 people voted for Solis, representing a 35.53%. Mendoza got 8,188 votes with 35.22%, Epsy Campbell obtained 5,803 for a 24.96%, and Ronald Solis 996, which constitutes a 4.28%.
These figures show that Luis Guillermo Solis will take the lead in negotiate with other parties, in the face of a possible coalition that aims to provide a different and more attractive option for Costa Rican voters in the upcoming national elections.
This coalition would take place among PAC, the Patriotic Alliance Party, Patria Nueva and Frente Amplio, which have already started the process and are willing to carry out this joint proposal. Definitive agreements should be made by August 1, since on that date the enrollment application for the coalition candidacy must be filed before the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
By then the coalition Party must be approved, the name of the coalition must have been selected, as well as its flag, the executive address, the court of ethics and discipline, the way and manner in which candidates to presidency and deputies will be elected, and how they will share the political debt. This coalition will stand as the opposition bloc against the ruling party: National Liberation.
