    Costa Rican Telethon Raises $1.4 million for Children's Health

    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The 2013 Costa Rican Telethon raised at least $1.4 million to be invested in medical equipment for children’s sections of two hospitals in the province of Guanacaste and the National Children’s Hospital in San Jose, reported the organization.

    The telethon, held over the weekend, raised a total of 703.8 million colones (about $1.4 million) through donations from businesses, nongovernmental organizations, social groups and individuals.

    The event, which brought together local and international artists will donate medical supplies for hospital infants in Liberia and Nicoya, both in the province of Guanacaste, as well as the sector of Neurosurgery at the National Children’s Hospital in the capital.

    Among the international artists who contributed to the cause were Maite Perroni, America Sierra, Alex Campos, Redimi2, Samo and Joey Montana.
