The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Costa Rica won the title for the Central American country that confiscated the most marijuana in the region, with more than 7 tons, reported the Ministry of Security.

In 2014, 872,000 marijuana plants were destroyed, along with 21 tons of cocaine that was seized as well reported Security Minister Celso Gamboa.

Gamboa praised the work of the Drug Control Police whose work took all of these drugs off the streets, reducing the associated violence and gang problems.

The authorities acquired the plants when they busted different plantations, houses, and hydroponic laboratories located throughout the country. (ADN)
