Costa Rican Association Promotes Sexual Health Through Their ‘Buy One Give One’ Condom Campaign

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Costa Rican Demographic Association (ADC) is looking to provide contraceptives to people in poor social situation and reduce sexual risk with their “1 × 1 = Protection” campaign.

According to Lindsay Morera, responsible for training for the ADC, said the project is being promoted in bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

The mechanics are simple: every time a person buys a condom the association is donating the same amount.

“We think that people with more resources can contribute something to the population living in poverty,” she said.

Yesterday kicked off the initiative and according to Joel Chavarria of the association, they managed to raise 50 condoms.

“While we only sold around 50 condoms, the idea is that if we continue to do so at least once a week, we can help those who have no resources,” said Chavarria.
