Costa Rica is present in the minds of potential tourists from all around the world. In these weeks of sanitary confinement in their countries, our Costa Rican paradise stands out as being on top of the wish-list for all its natural attractions and biodiversity, the fullness that is experienced when feeling the experience of being in a rain forest, the incomparable beauty of the coasts, the exquisite coffee quality, amazing fauna, healthy local gastronomy with a variety of fruits and vegetables, but above all the warmth of the “Ticos”.
“Costa Rica has earned with decades of work a highly respected place in the world as a tourist destination that we must take care of while we plan how to reactivate our tourism sector to get it out of this unprecedented crisis,” explained María Amalia Revelo, Minister of Tourism.
The minister added that the Tourism public relations and advertising teams have developed strategic actions to maintain a connection with the main issuing markets, this includes sharing audiovisual brushstrokes of landscapes, gastronomy, well-being and activities to do with the family during confinement.
The list is wide and varied. The digital magazine Matador Network published an extensive report on the majesty of the Osa Peninsula. Even the US version of Condé Nast Traveler in the framework of the celebration of Earth Day highlighted Costa Rica as an example to the world of “green destination” for its sustainable tourism model, and highlighted how the ICT created since 1997 the Certificate Tourism Sustainability Certificate (CST).
The Canadian World Traveler medium developed an extensive report titled “Listening to the sounds of the tropical forest”, which made mention of the Arenal and Rincón de la Vieja volcanoes, and the biodiversity of the Costa Rican fauna. Costa Rica is one of the most attractive places in the world.
Parallel to Visit Costa Rica social networks, content of value for the United States and Canada markets has been shared, a series of gastronomic video tutorials stand out, so to offer the best prospects for making more passable the quarantine, like cooking Gallo Pinto, seasoned Tortilla, Picadillo, Black soup or preparing Smoothies with a Costa Rican flavor.
Also as part of the Just Take The Essential Moment video series, sessions of meditation, yoga, tours of waterfalls and currently empty beaches have been generated, but full of magic and natural charm.
Europe also remembers Costa Rica
In Spain, the digital medium El Mundo published a series of coloring mandalas inspired by animals of the Costa Rican fauna such as the hummingbird, the jaguar, the sloth and the owl, all with the purpose of filling these dark moments with color and for the search of activities at home that can entertain the little ones and bring the family together.
These mandalas were also shared among the tourism industry partners that have Costa Rica in their programming, as a way of offering their clients a little piece of the country, where users can learn about the flora, fauna and culture of Costa Rica, both for adults and children. This book was also replicated for Germany, France and the UK.
The Instragram account of the exclusive travel medium Lonely Planet (Spanish version) has dedicated the “Photo of the Day” section to Costa Rica on two occasions, specifically to the diverse destinations of Monteverde and Tortuguero, on April 11th and 20th, respectively.
“Nature by itself”, “A moment to dream about nature”, “The wonders of this world”, and “The trips we will take”, were all hashtags highlighted, together with #cuandotodoestopase. As of Wednesday, April 23th, the publications exceeded 3,500 likes and almost 100 positive comments, among which stood out, “What an exuberant nature!”; “What memories, pure life!”; “I’ve been there, it’s paradise!”; “We will return, God willing with the children, Pura Vida!”; “One of the most beautiful places we have seen”; “Our next destination”; “Really spectacular, Costa Rica is a paradise” and “It is a beautiful place, essential to do zip line, it is unforgettable”.
Even in Spanish lands and according to the public relations agency Blueroom, the May edition of Condé Nast Traveler confirms a report from Playa Nosara, in Guanacaste and nominates it in the category of International Destination for visiting in the future for the Gold List awards 2020.
Also in Europe, the well-known media The Times published in its latest edition, the positive story of the British family who vacationed in Costa Rica and had to live part of their quarantine in what they describe as paradise.
In addition, there is the activation in social networks throughout Europe “Tico Thursday”, we have had the collaboration of Joe Wicks “The body coach”, recognized personal trainer in the United Kingdom, who visited the country and shared with followers of the Social networks of Costa Rica in Europe. These exercise sessions were carried out during his stay on Costa Rican soil.
Trivias about the particularities of Costa Rica are also shared on social media, together with contests to enjoy Costa Rican coffee and chocolate, all these actions in order to keep our country present and trending -in a positive way- for the potential tourists of tomorrow.
