The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Getting married in the middle of the mountains of Monteverde or spending the first hours as husband and wife at Manuel Antonio beach are the goals of many couples who visit Costa Rica.

In recent years, the number of tourists who visit Costa Rica in order to marry or celebrate their honeymoon has increased. For instance, whereas in 2006 4.3% of foreigners enjoyed their honeymoon in Costa Rica, the percentage grew to 10.7% in 2012, according to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT). That means that at least 166,000 people enjoyed his first days as a married couple in Costa Rica last year, including those who entered the country through other means of transportation.

Costa Rica is part of the Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations, according to Perfect Honeymoons & Holidays Travel, one of the oldest and most recognized travel agencies in the honeymoons industry worldwide.

Costa Rica has been ranked in 3rd place after Hawaii, Italy, Greece and Tahiti. According Honeymoon Inc, CNN Money and Honneymoon Wishes, Costa Rica has three market segments that are ideal for honeymoons: adventure activities, small hotels and nature reserves, as well as “all-inclusive” and relaxing beaches.

Several factors such as air accessibility, hotel infrastructure to conduct weddings and wedding professional planners have contributed to maintain Costa Rica´s positioning in this market.
