Costa Rica Expresses Solidarity with Guatemala after Fuego Volcano Eruption Costa Rica expressed his “solidarity with the people and the Government of Guatemala to the eruption of Fire”, which has forced the evacuation of thousands of people in the south of that country.
The Costa Rican Foreign Ministry said in a statement that San Jose “adds to the solidarity with the affected families and hopes for an early return of normalcy in their communities.”
President Laura Chinchilla said yesterday a meeting with President of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina, who conveyed “its deepest solidarity with the people of Guatemala,” explains the official note.
“Guatemala has demonstrated his extraordinary will to overcome adversity, and again, with their authorities, will find the strength to overcome this difficult and painful time,” said the document.
The Fuego volcano, located 50 kilometers southwest of Guatemala City, yesterday resumed its eruptive activity violently throwing ash fumaroles and languages that reach 3,000 meters from the crater.
