The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – This weekend, the Works of the Holy Spirit Association held its traditional feast at the National Stadium to share with children in vulnerable social conditions and celebrate Christmas with a gift, among other activities.
From nine in the morning, children lined up to enter the stadium.
Voluntary associations and private companies give life to this project that has been ongoing for 12 years and has been held on six occasions at the National Stadium, as this Sunday.
Over the years, the 35,000 gifts are the result of individual efforts and private enterprise partners who have been collecting the presents over the last three months.
Every child receives at least one gift, plus they get breakfast and lunch through the influx of chain restaurants that donate food.
The priest, Sergio Valverde, is the leader of this activity and ensures that the most challenging thing is to process the last gifts that are delivered late. However, he is grateful to each of the individuals and companies making their contribution.
In the last 12 years spent to organize this event for 35,000 children, the expectation grows for Valverde, who says that although difficult to organize, the end result is always worth it: Smiling faces and grateful children at the end afternoon.
Although everything pays off this Sunday while the kids enjoy their Christmas, this Monday there will be some outstanding bills to the Association, so, Valverde calls on Costa Rica to continue their contribution at www.obrasdelespiritusanto.org.
