The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The City Council of Alajuela as had declared the province as “Bike-Friendly”, so they will now prioritize resources to encourage the use of this means of transport, especially in urban centers, but also to allocate space to bicycles said the Mayor, Robert Thompson.
“Alajuela, by its nature, allows us to carry out this project because the streets are quite flat, the idea is not to build a bike path. Rather, the idea is to mark and prioritize bicycles in these areas , such as parking areas for bicycles in parks and public places, to encourage the use of bicycles,” said the mayor.
According to Thompson, the idea is to start from the city center to the outside. According to the mayor, the streets of Alajuela must be repaved, so there is still work to do.
“From the point of view of infrastructure, it takes much: signage, parking spaces for bicycles, road marking and traffic control,” Thompson said.
